UZouk Presents: Rodrigo Delano
39 years of Lambada. Movement scientist. Physical therapist. Educator.
If you've never heard the name Rodrigo Delano before, we really want to change that.
Rodrigo has been dancing Lambada since 1987. For almost four decades, he has contributed to the development, preservation and international growth of Lambada and Brazilian Zouk. Not only as a dancer and educator, but also as a movement scientist and physical therapist.
His work connects something incredibly valuable to us as dancers: an understanding of how the human body actually works with the complex movements we use in Brazilian Zouk and Lambada.
And on Saturday 19 September, he's coming to Utrecht! 🔥
🧠 Understand the movement, not just the shape
In this exclusive 2-hour deep dive, Rodrigo will explore:
🔥 Body mechanics
🌊 Flow
🌀 Passive head movements
Rather than simply giving you another sequence to reproduce, this workshop is an opportunity to understand what is happening inside the movement.
How does movement travel through the body? How do we create flow instead of forcing it? How can we prepare and organise the body for more complex movements? And what changes when we understand the mechanics behind what we're trying to create?
Because learning where your head, chest or feet should go is one thing.
Understanding why they move that way opens up an entirely different level of freedom, comfort and control in your dancing.
Who is Rodrigo Delano?
Rodrigo is an educator, researcher, movement scientist and physical therapist from Brazil who has been part of the Lambada and Brazilian Zouk world since long before many of us took our first dance steps.
Over the decades, he has contributed internationally to dance education, teacher training, body mechanics and safer execution of head movements, while also helping preserve and share the history and culture of Lambada and Brazilian Zouk.
He has trained generations of dancers and teachers and is internationally recognised for bringing science, anatomy and movement understanding into the dance.
For those familiar with the MAC Project, Rodrigo has been one of its main speakers from the beginning, sharing his expertise on movement mechanics and preparing the body for the demanding movements found in Brazilian Zouk.
Preserving the roots. Understanding the body. Building the future.
We are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to bring him to Utrecht 🧡

Level
You should be familiar with the 10 Brazilian Zouk Fundamentals. For UZouk students: Essentials completed and up.
The workshop is also highly relevant for Bachata Sensual and BachaZouk dancers interested in body mechanics, flow and passive head movements. Please keep in mind that Rodrigo will use Brazilian Zouk fundamental footwork as the foundation for the workshop.
Two hours. Almost four decades of experience. A rare opportunity to learn from someone who has spent a lifetime not only dancing these movements, but understanding them.
We can't wait to welcome Rodrigo Delano to Utrecht 🧡
