Frequently Asked Questions

We're happy you're curious about Utrecht Zouk! To help you find the information you need, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions. Take a look below, and if you still have questions, feel free to reach out.

  • You can find detailed information about our course prices, start dates, and trial class options here. Select the class or event you're interested in to see the price and schedule in the registration environment.

  • If the next course start date isn't listed, it hasn't been finalized yet. We typically begin new courses in January/February and September. To stay updated on upcoming courses and events, follow us on Instagram @utrechtzouk or keep an eye on this website.

  • Trial class availability is limited and only possible in consultation with Lisa. Please message us on Instagram @utrechtzoukto inquire about possibilities.

  • Absolutely! We encourage partner rotation during classes, but if you prefer not to rotate, please bring your own partner and inform the instructor.

  • We occasionally offer discounts on courses or events, which are clearly communicated on our website and marketing channels.

  • We understand that things happen! If you miss a class, we provide summary videos in the course WhatsApp group every week. Please read our general payment and cancellations policy to learn how we deal with missed classes.

  • You can purchase drop-in classes whenever you like, subject to availability and class balance. Select your desired class in the Bueno calendar and choose a "Ticket" for a single lesson. If the class is full, you can get on the waiting list.

  • We highly recommend starting with our Level 1 course, even if you have prior dance experience. Brazilian Zouk has unique elements, and our curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation. If you'd like to discuss joining a higher level, consider booking a private lesson to assess your level and prepare you. Message us on Instagram @utrechtzouk to talk things through when in doubt.

  • We don’t recommend starting head movements before approximately one year of weekly classes to ensure a solid foundation. The seasonal Understanding Head Movements bootcamp is suitable for those with at least 6 months of weekly Brazilian Zouk experience. Each seasonal bootcamp has a different focus, making it beneficial even for experienced dancers.

  • While the focus is on head movements, we assume familiarity with Brazilian Zouk fundamentals before entering this workshop. It might be challenging but not impossible for experienced Bachata dancers to participate. You’re welcome to try.

  • The quickest way to reach us is by sending a message to our Instagram page @utrechtzouk. We typically respond within 48 hours. While we strive to respond to all messages and emails promptly, Instagram is the most efficient way to get a quick answer from one of our team.
