We've spent years watching what actually makes students grow and stay happy. The answer is consistent: foundation work, commitment, and repetition. The level-based system encouraged rushing through levels instead of going deep. This new structure rewards the behavior that actually works - coming back to fundamentals and investing in your foundation.
-
First classes in the new structure: Tuesday, February 3rd and Friday, February 6th, 2026. Before that, we'll host intro bootcamps and assessment evenings in January.
-
Old system: 5 separate levels where you "move up" and leave previous levels behind.
New system: Foundation-based tracks with add-ons for improvement, commitment and joy. With the new structure we also encourage repetition of the Essentials & Foundations tracks without extra cost.
-
Our teaching philosophy, values, and approach stay the same. We're just organizing the courses in a way that better supports how students actually learn.
-
No. Four out of six classes are accessible to all dancers. Only two courses (Beyond Foundations and the Invitational Lab) have assessment requirements, and those assessments are there to give you personalized feedback and ensure you're ready for the intensity we ask from our students in these classes.

When you register for a Brazilian Zouk track, you automatically get free access to all tracks below it:
Brazilian Zouk Foundations students can join Essentials for free
Brazilian Zouk Beyond Foundations students can join Foundations AND Essentials for free
Invitational Lab students must also register for and take part in Beyond Foundations and with that, also get free access to Essentials & Foundations
This means more opportunities to train fundamentals without paying extra.
-
Yes! That's exactly what we're encouraging. The "access down" structure makes it financially accessible to join multiple classes and keep improving your fundamentals.

-
Current Level 1: Register for Foundations (and get FREE access to Essentials)
Current Level 2 or 3: Register for Foundations. If you want to move to Beyond Foundations, you can request an assessment with Lisa.
Current Level 4:
Did Level 4 once (Fall 2025)? → Request an assessment to determine the best track for you
Did Level 4 twice or more in 2025? → Register for Beyond Foundations. We highly recommend joining all three tracks (Beyond Foundations, Foundations, Essentials).
Current Level 5: Register for Beyond Foundations (and get FREE access to Essentials and Foundations).
-
You need an assessment if you want to:
Move to Beyond Foundations if you’re currently in level 2, 3. Also, if right now (autumn 2025) enrolled in Level 4 for the first time.
Join the Invitational Lab
-
Not at all. Beyond Foundations is not a demotion - it's where the serious foundation work happens. You're getting access to MORE classes (Foundations and Essentials) for the same price, which means more opportunities to strengthen your fundamentals. The expectations for this class are actually going UP, not down.
-
A 10-15 minute feedback session where you dance with two of our teaching team members. We observe specific technical elements, give you personalized feedback on where you are now, and guidance on what to focus on next. Think of it as a personal growth session, not a test.
-
Lisa + a certified team member (MAC-trained) or Marcos + a certified team member. Both assessors are familiar with our class structure and expectations.
-
We'll organize dedicated assessment evenings in January 2026 (free of charge at this stage). You can also request assessments during (paid) private lessons.
-
There's no fail. Assessments are feedback tools. If our recommendation is to spend more time in Foundations before moving to Beyond Foundations, that's guidance to help you succeed, not a judgment. You can always request another assessment next season after working on the feedback.
-
The Brazilian Zouk Invitational Lab is limited to max 6 couples to keep it intensive and allow for deep mentorship. It's invitation-based or upon request (with approval/no approval after assessment). To join, you need:
Active registration in Beyond Foundations
Assessment from our teaching team
Written motivation explaining why you want to join
This course is for our most committed students who want intensive, personalized guidance to grow and meet their ambitions.
-
No automatic placement. We want to make sure each track is the right fit for where you are and what you want. Level 5 ≠ Invitational Lab. You'll need to request assessment + submit motivation. This isn't about skill level but about commitment, drive, ambition and readiness for intensive work and mentorship from Lisa and Marcos.
-
You need either:
Previous Lambada experience, OR
Completion of our Lambada 101 Bootcamp AND completed our Brazilian Zouk Essentials course
Our Lambada course is progressive and not suitable for absolute beginners in partner dancing.
-
Yes, if you're familiar with the 10 Brazilian Zouk fundamentals. We strongly recommend completing our Essentials track before joining the Brazilian Zouk Solo Lab so you have the foundation to build on.
